Traditional Theater Training 2025 Recital

Traditional Theater Training is a program designed for performing arts practitioners from all over the world, regardless of nationality or place of residence. Since 1984, it has offered participants the opportunity to study the techniques and spirit of Japanese traditional performing arts under the guidance of master instructors. Every year, participants from diverse backgrounds come together to learn, practice, and grow through mutual exchange.

In 2025, 17 uniquely talented participants have gathered for the program. Following the orientation on July 10, they will take part in workshops on kotsuzumi, Noh, Kyogen, and Nihon Buyo. After these initial workshops, they will divide into two focused groups—Noh and Nihon Buyo—for more intensive training. In addition, some participants who have expressed a interest in kotsuzumi will continue practicing it alongside their main course.

“Traditional Theatre Training 2025 Recital” will showcase the results of the participants’ training. Set on the historic stage of the Oe Noh Theatre, the performance will feature pieces in Noh, Nihon Buyo, and kotsuzumi as presented by the participants themselves. Admission is free and no reservation is required. Performances by the instructors will also be featured, so we warmly invite everyone to attend and enjoy this unique cultural experience.
