Selected the Resident Artists for the exchange program in partnership with the Australia Council for the Arts and ARTSPACE

The Australia Council for the Arts and Kyoto Art Center offer Australian and Japanese visual artists the chance to live and work in each city, as part of a residency exchange program.

We have chosen following artists for the program this year. There were 25 applications from Japanese artists and 45 from Australian artists.

Kohei Maeda(Kyoto, Japan)

Born in 1991, Wakayama, Japan. Maeda completed the master’s degree at Kyoto City University of Arts. He is interested in relationships with people and things. His recent projects: “Itomu” (Gallery Parc 2019), "Mandelab Project" (2016).

Ross Manning(Queensland, Australia)

Ross Manning (b. 1978, Brisbane, Australia) lives and works in Brisbane, Australia. He is primarily known as a kinetic artist who explores light, physics, sound and the elements. In 2019 he was included in The National, at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney.
